[dropcap]W[/dropcap]e’ve all heard about this at one point or another: do astronauts have sex while up in space for long periods of time? If so, what would happen? And what would it feel like?
Good questions! And most of us will never find out.
But here are our best interpretations of what it would feel like and what would happen.
First, You Probably Wouldn’t Want to In the First Place
In space, you get hot much faster than on earth because there’s no gravity. Because there is no gravity, the extra heat your body is making has nowhere to go. It just sort of sticks to you.
This would become extremely uncomfortable really quickly. If you did manage to have sex for longer than 5 minutes with hardcore thrusting, you’d likely be so hot that you’d want to submerge yourself in ice blocks.
This is the biggest problem with this theory. But if you’re horny enough, you might just ignore the extreme heat and go for it. But for the sake of argument, let’s just say you’d want to thrust slow and steady.
Second, Your Sweat Would Stick to You
Like your body heat, your sweat would stick to your skin and make you feel disgusting. If you’ve ever watched people in space, you’d see that when they play with water, the water doesn’t go anywhere.
If you’ve ever gotten gel on your hands, that is exactly what water in space would feel like.
So if you got into some crazy sex, this is what your whole body would feel like. Can you imagine that sweaty feeling on your body never going away? You can’t exactly just jump in the shower in space!
Third, It Would Feel like Doing it In the Pool
Ever had sex in the pool? It’s similar to what it would feel like in space. And this is because of the virtual weightlessness you feel when in the pool.
A pool mimics space as best as we can get right now. So if you want to feel what it’s like to bang in space, this is where you can do it.
The best part is that you’re constantly being cooled off by the water, and you don’t have to worry about getting sweaty and gross that will never go away.
