The conclusion to their research showed that most men enjoy visual cues, especially those that emphasize your body and deemphasize emotional complexity and drama. Lesbian porn is quite popular because men are able to “double up” on visual cues. As the women in the videos are quite complacent, seeing two women is much better than one personality-free woman.
But, how does that make sense? Why would men be aroused by someone who will never be with them?
Ogas explains that sexual fantasy has no basis in reality, common sense, or even the physical laws. Many women are aroused by billionaires and other celebrities who will most likely never reciprocate. Not to mention, some women are aroused by gay porn, just as men enjoy lesbian porn. The attraction is different for most gay and straight women who enjoy gay porn. Their arousal is often tied to an emotional and narrative component of the porn. Without that complexity, they may not be anywhere near as aroused. They often enjoy gay porn more when the actors seem as if they are enjoying themselves and each other. If they had no personalities, the women would, more likely, be turned-off, as the actors would look stiff and boring.
Some differences with homosexual porn between the genders are physiological. Micheal Bailey, a psychology professor at Northwestern University, studied arousal, and after his research, he found that while women may report they aren’t turned on by sex scenes with two men, their genitalia tells a different story. The research showed that their genitalia responded equality to erotica featuring two men, two women, or a man and woman. Their bodies and minds don’t match.
In contrast, most straight men, aren’t aroused by anything other than women, genitally or intellectually. Bailey says this difference may be caused by women’s evolutionary need to pick the right guy and so they didn’t develop the highly-tuned visual stimuli that men did. According to Bailey, women aren’t looking too closely at the person’s looks because that isn’t the only way to know if they will be able to provide resources to children.
In addition, all of this doesn’t mean straight men are actually attracted to real lesbians. The numbers on men who visit erotica of actual lesbians that is geared toward actual lesbians is very low, says Ogas.
This porn is a form of “erotic illusion” designed to fool men’s sexual circuits. Most straight men don’t want to date a lesbian, but they enjoy watching them act out their fantasies. Sexual thoughts in their rawest form are between ourselves and our computer keyboard but don’t reflect our real-life desires, romantically or sexually.
